Inverness, late 1938 plate.

I reckon it’s a big’un.

Series III 25hp limousine.

ST 9960 has caused problems - usually seen on an 18/85, not a big'un like this. And why do London Met police Wolseleys throw up obscure Scottish numbers - we had an Aberdeen plate on another a day or 2 ago??

Presumably because they aren’t kosher police cars. This film was made in 1950, cars were still in short supply after WW2, presumably the film makers were glad to get their mitts on any black Wolseley that ran.

Not a big'un, from previous comments about forward (on 18/85) or rearward position of spot & Fog lamp mounting plus small side lights (on 18/85), checked with pic here. Link to "www.historics.co.uk"

"This is either a 16/65 or an 18/85 Series 111, as with the 21hp and 25hp Super Sixes the only external difference is the badge under the illuminated Wolseley badge on the grill. They have smaller side-lamps than the Super Sixes and the fog and pass lamps are mounted just behind the front bumper and forward of the front wings rather than on plinths that protrude through the front wings as on the Super Sixes."
