Taillights must have been replaced during the life of this car...

i know little about how this works, but if the date of first registration was 1990... does that mean that the car was imported from another country at that time..?

If the registration number is genuine, no; it dates from 01/08/1970 - 31/07/71. We've seen elsewhere that DVLA info isn't always reliable.

The date range you give is the age of the car, not the age of the registration.
From what was said previously, an imported car gets a registration corresponding to its build year.
So indeed it is a car made in 1971 but registered later, probably due to import.

As rljuna2 wrote, back fenders and lamps were mounted later.
