looks like its the final year one ( 1996 ) by the lack of Oldsmobile script over the left headlight 1996 ones dropped the Cutlass name to be only Ciera |

Why did Oldsmobile changed their name "Cutlass Ciera" to "Ciera" without Cutlass in 1996? |

don't know.. another question would be : why did they slapped the Cutlass name everywhere ? .. |

My only guess was to differentiate it from the other Cutlasses, although waiting until the last year seems strange. The name was used so much because it really appealed to the public at that time. The original Cutlass was very popular. |

Why does the 1996 Buick Century/Oldsmobile Ciera still look like its from the 1980s? 1996 is the late 1990s, cars of the late 1990s has a more roundish body and no longer use the boxy car body style from the 1980s/early 1990s. |

they were good sellers, tooling was paid so GM just had to cash in on those... but its only my theory another good example would be the Chevy Corsica, the Astro/Safari and Express/Savana twins, which almost did not changed also, their main competitors ( mainly Tempo/Topaz and Acclaim/Spirit ) did not changed much either from rhe late 80's to their ends |
