This type of body - with this larger rear window and these rear lights - was launched in August 1957 for the 1958 model year. The concept of "model year" for VW started in 1955, when in August of that year the 1956 model year was introduced. This type of body - with this larger rear window and these rear lights - was launched in August 1957 for the 1958 model year. By then, VW called it VW Limousine - as can be seen on the 2nd link - and the lack of chrome and painted bumpers show it's a Standard trim car.
