Wouldn't that be too flashy for a humble taxi? |

It was almost a decade old at the time. |

The main taxi firm at my local railway station used Rolls-Royce 25/30s until the middle 1950s, when they were replaced by Vauxhalls. The Royces were cheap to buy because nobody wanted them after the WW2, and would keep going on minimal maintenance, if not minimal fuel. -- Last edit: 2020-11-23 23:19:13 |

...however the subject car doesn't have a split windscreen (rear windows aren't split either) and the hood louvres don't match with the Admiral's ![]() Couldn't it be a 1938+ Kadett De Luxe Limousine with these hood louvres ? Not Olympia either, as it had more vertical hood louvres. |

To be honest, I'm not sure if this is an Opel at all. Most Portugese cars in the 1940s were either of British or American origin... |

Okay, this should be put back to 'unknown' then. |

The twisted roof line and not complete windshield played a joke. I believe in the 1938 Opel Kadett track. That 4-door body was converted to Moskwitch when the film was made. |

Okay, seems plausible actually. Must be a four-door Kadett then, since I doubt the Moskvitch was exported outside of the Soviet block. |

Not true, the Moskvitch actually sold rather well in the Nordic countries back then, especially in Finland and Norway. However, the Moskvitch wasn't exported until 1948, so it can only be the Kadett. |
