No Special convertible for 1941, this one's a Super [56-C], you can tell because the fender reaches all the way to the door. |

Are you sure? It is mentioned here: http://www.classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=455&year=1941&model=2627 and here: Link to "www.groovecar.com" But I can't find it in the sales brochure... There seems to be different convertible versions for the Limited as well though. |

Sorry for the late reply and incorrect facts, but yes, you are right. The Special may have been introduced later in the model year, making it absent in the brochure. 4309 Special [46-C] and 12391 Super [56-C] were made during 1941. The best way to tell the difference externally are the front fenders and the doors. On the Super, the fender edge goes up in a tilted, but straight manner, and the door edge is completely straight and right above the "running boards". On the Special, on the other hand, the fender is more rounded and there's a notable flat area at the bottom of the fender which is shared with the Century. Note that the door edge is curved at the bottom by being integrated into the "running boards". The car above does appear to have the straight fender/door edge. Another detail worth mentioning are the interior door panels. They are different on the two. There's a shot of the interior in the movie, which is that of the Super: Super: Special: Super: Special: |
