It is an Oldsmobile series 76 four door sedan of 1949 .The series 76 was the lower priced line of Oldsmobile and contrary to the new Futuramic 88's and to the 98's which had the new " Kettering" high compression V8's , it was powered by Oldsmobile's old six cylinder L head engine of 257 cubic inches developing 105 horsepower.This one seems to be the basic non-deluxe model without windshield chrome frame and rear rocker panels.Untill may 1950 the Oldsmobiles 76 and 88 still had two-piece windshields. |
