Have started noticing HK J2s seem to have this treble-split rear window. No idea why. |

The two outer leaves open so ventilation ? My experience of openings in back is they bring in exhaust fumes, even missing van door seals. -- Last edit: 2020-08-13 20:30:59 |

Security? That’s quite a large window, perhaps bars to stop large packages being nicked. |

Other Morris in HK with this - /vehicle_1411713-Morris-J2.html , /vehicle_41048-Morris-J2.html . And one without - /vehicle_113318-Morris-J2-1957.html . Can't see any of our Austin 152s with this (although splitting examples into Austin or Morris is not always scientific), and it only seems to happen for HK. |

They do appear to be hinged so the outer glasses can have a ventilation gap similar to a Mini's side-rear glasses. The exhaust on the J2 and J4 looks to end before the front axle, there is no tailpipe at the rear. From drawings, the tailpipe from the silencer (nearside of the vehicle with spare wheel on the off-side) just points downwards with no attempt to discharge to the side. Possibly HK experience was that even at moderate speeds, and any resultant negative pressure area at the rear, the exhaust fumes were not a problem. |
