This was popular with fire services as it saved on initial costs and repainting especially in rural areas with narrow lanes but unusual for an ambulance . Also unusual rear light treatment. Could be a Lomas body. These Bedford J1's were the ambulance of my youth and looked very impressive with their long bonnets and 3.5 ltr petrol engines. Had the pleasure of riding in one after a 'think bike' moped accident ! The replacement Bedford CF's looked weedy in comparison. -- Last edit: 2020-08-05 10:09:14
