1962-63 Chevy B-Series, but that one in the background looks like an anachronism. It looks like a 1973-79 Ford B-Series. |

The bus in the background has a Thomas body. As to the one in the foreground, I am unsure as to the body builder-it may be a Ward |

Not a B-Series bus, that is said to have been unveiled in 1966. The hood and the front fascia are indeed the ones of a previous 1962-63 model. Depending on the wheelbase, this bus is either a Cxx02 or a Sxx02 school bus: according to the 1961 brochure, buses with wheelbases shorter than 175"/4.4 m can be C-Series or S-Series models (133"/3.38 m = C-30, 157"/3.99 m = S-50 and 175" = C-50 and C-60). This scene was an reenactment of the naval volunteers who came to Neshoba County from the Naval Air Station Meridian on the 24th June 1964 to assist the FBI to find the missing workers. During the search, the naval volunteers found the bodies of Henry Dee and Charles Moore; two African-American college students who were lynched and dumped in the Mississippi River on the 2nd May 1964. -- Last edit: 2017-09-04 10:45:41 |
