That's a highly altered 1956 Cadillac limousine, known as the Presidential Parade Car. It was rarely used by the president, mostly being a car for secret service guards. It was behind President Kennedy's Lincoln in Dallas. |

This car should be known by Kennedy assassination buffs everywhere...it's the car that rode behind JFK. It's a 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 9-passenger limousine, modified into a convertible with sideboards. I've often wondered what ever became of this car. According to my sources it is a 1956 Cadillac base parade car .It was part of the White House Presidential fleet .It was bodied by Hess & Eisenhardt on an extended Fleetwood series 75 chassis ( 4,O1 m instead of 3,81 m).It was part of the Charly De Pauw collection in Belgium in the 80's and is since back in the States. |

After googling the car, I found that there were actually TWO of them. Both were apparently retired from White House duty in 1968. One is currently owned by a private collector in Illinois. The other, which is the former Charly De Pauw car mentioned above is at the Imperial Palace Auto collection in Las Vegas. Apparently there is some debate as to which is really the car from the Kennedy assassination. De Pauw was adamant that his car was the real one, while others (including the guy who runs the Cadillac professional car database) insist tha that the Illinois car is the one used in Dallas. -- Last edit: 2007-11-21 09:47:22 |

I believe this is the same car used in the movie "Kennedy"; it is intended to be a replica of one of the two White House Security cars that were custom built by Hess & Eisenhardt on a stretched 1956 Cadillac chassis, to replace those that had been in service since 1938.
