Unusual logo on the center cap of the sidemount. Methinks that holds a clue to the car's make or maybe even model. |

I wouldn't be surprised when this car turns out to be a circa 1930 Packard Sport Phaeton... |

Yes, definitely Packard. Those fender mounted sidelights make it 1930 or '31, but it is probably 1930 as the '31s got bigger hubcaps. Hard to tell if it is a standard eight or a big eight. |

Packard Big Eight 1930 ( seventh series Model 734 Speedster Phaeton build september 1929 to august 1930).The model 734 Phaeton had a non-folding windshield but the windshield has apparently been removed on this one and that would tend to confirm a 734 , otherwise a folded windshiels would have been visible. |

As there were so few 734s built - my book says 113 in all four body styles - I reckon this is more likely to be a regular 733 standard eight phaeton. I drove a restored one of these cars a couple of weeks ago - it looks magnificent but it is a big, heavy, not very fast old car with not very effective brakes - I am looking at some pics of it right now and all of the details in this pic match up. |

Lucky guy. I wish I could drive one. I'd rather drive one of these than any modern performance car. |
