500 Series? |

There're two possibilities, either a 500-series built between 1964 and 1968, or a K-series built 1969 onwards. As commersial vehicles live a hard life, as the one pictured is quite clean and as the 1969+ verion had better reliability Link to "archive.commercialmotor.com" I believe it's more likely a K-series. I haven't found any styling differences between the two models. Dodge must have been pleased with the design, apparently https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_500 made by Ghia. |

There is no essential difference between 500 Series and K, a Dodge 500 Series 8-ton truck is designated K800. The November 1968 changes to 500 Series trucks consisted of engine and braking system improvements that resulted in slight increases in gross vehicle weight classifications particularly in tractor units. The Dodge 500 series is classified as individual trucks as KL600 (6-ton) to K1100 (11-ton) simple trucks and KP700 (14-ton) to KP1000 (28-ton) tractor units. Likewise the Dodge 200 Series was D205 to D207 (and D209?). They should all be 500 Series with the K- designation added where possible as here /vehicle.php?id=762086 /vehicle.php?id=490795 -- Last edit: 2020-04-05 12:13:11 |
