I don't know anything about the years colours were available on the W111, but I can compare them with the ones available on the W113 and the W108/W109 range. I cannot see if it's a solid colour or a metallic colour, so I've taken both into account. The numbers are the ones used by Mercedes themselves and is stamped on the identification plate. Two paint manufacturers were used, Glasurit (=G) and Herberts (=H). Paints can vary a great deal depending on the light. Finally the car in question can have been resprayed at some point. - 268 H (dark green), available on several models from August 1959. Available on the W113 until 1968. - 291 H (dark olive), available on several models from August 1965. - 834 G (moss green, metallic), available on several models from September 1961. Yes - but not as usefully as I thought. Seems only the 280 SE 3.5 had thicker lights - /vehicle_881298-Mercedes-Benz-280-SE-35-Coupe-W111-1970.html , /vehicle_611452-Mercedes-Benz-280-SE-35-Coupe-W111-1970.html . Maybe also the plain 280 SE, but again around 1970 so probably alongside the wide grille change. I was convinced it or something like it happened earlier, but zilch. |

The headrest with its Spock like ears + rubber on bumper = would have been a Flachkühler ! |
