Is it just me or does this look like a US Dasher? EDIT: Yes, if you look in the episode it has the US bumpers and the rear sidemarker. 1981 Passat by plate (T502KM98) -- Last edit: 2020-03-11 19:47:39 |

WVWZZZ337BE905333, so I think it may be a Passat after all. The Dashers I'm finding on copart all have VINS starting with WVWCG. Unless there was also German assembly for the US? |

Dashers were built in Germany for North America. Only Rabbits (Golf I), Golf II and Pickup (Caddy) were built in the US. -- Last edit: 2020-11-08 09:24:01 |

Was the Dasher named Passat in Canada? That's the only explanation I have for the US bumpers and sidemarkers and European name (yes, I know the badges can easily be exchanged) Canadian VW brochures of the era stubbornly leave it out and instead concentrate on Scirocco, Golf Cabriolet, Rabbit and Vanagon. It may have also been called Passat in some overseas territories where federal laws apply, but that is extremely unlikely. -- Last edit: 2020-11-11 19:25:30 |
