It is a Borgward Isabella (1954-56). |

I'm not sure it's an "Isabella". Probably an older Borgward 1500 (1949-52) or 1800 (1952-54). |

I am sure that it is the Isabella. This is the limousine with the old style radiator grille, where the rhombus pokes into the hood. The older Hansa 1500 and Hansa 1800 models had a split rhombus with the upper half being part of the hood. Also the hood was more curved and the grille lower. Have a look at the following page: http://www.borgward-ig.de/ There are good pictures and drawings. |

Limousine? Strange as it is a 2-door car. |

Even the Volkswagen 1200 was called a Limousine. It was often used in the same sense as Sedan on german cars. |

In German the word 'Limousine' it the equivalet to the English 'saloon' or the American English 'sedan'. The English term 'limousine' would correctly be translated as 'Chauffeur Limousine', a phrase which is rarely being used. |

In French limousine means 6 side glasses. So a Renault 4L is a limousine ![]() |

Sedan, Limousine, Saloon etc. have four doors, not two as the concerned Borgward. |
