Quote [..]these schemes were indeed very popular. Similar trim and combos were offered in the UK on the Morris Oxford. I think these were accessories in India, or dealer fitted. Either ways, I like them, and after I get my Amby Im fitting them!

If such trim exteriors were offered by Morris or the aftermarket in U.K., I never saw one, and since my family were very much Morris oriented if they had been at all common I would remember them. The early production Oxford S111 had no side trim when in single colour, and then a single strip to separate the contrasting colours on the duotone model, introduced February 1957, which became standard on all cars, duotone or not. The Cowley 1500 remained unstriped, being the poverty level trim.

Our 1957 S111 had no chrome strip, and was sage green. The 1955 Cowley bought new by my father was Empire green, and was a very plain thing. It was so gutless Dad spent the money he saved by buying the Cowley rather than the Oxford on retrofitting a 1500cc engine. He retained the lower ratio back axle so it went quite well, comparatively. The car was sold in 1958 to help buy a house, and transport became a 1957 Ford 7cwt van, then a 1951 Oxford MO because my brother and I complained bitterly about the van, then the S111, which was not kept for long, and was replaced by a 1959 Minor 1000, (more complaints from growing teenagers) then the 1959 Standard Vanguard Vignale Estate car on which I took my driving test in 1965.
