its been heavily rebuilt with non original sides but its a "Lighter,Amphibious, Resupply, Cargo,5 ton 4x4 (LARC-V)", all aluminium hull, built 1961 mainly by Le Torneau-Westinghouse and Consolidated, powered by a Cummins V8 diesel..in the pic the front/back railings, the small ladder, the side railings with the pierced track mat below, and the front cab are all non original..the cab should be similar to the open one on a WW2 DUKW...was considered more of a boat on wheels, rather than an amphibious truck.

The first prototype was made in 1959, first deliveries to Australia in 1960. The production of the final design started in 1963 of which the US Navy bought large numbers.

I think this scene was filmed in Alaska, therefore the vehicles are (ex-)US military equipment. If the number '205' is still the old registration it must be from around 1964 +/- one year.

No no, it says in the documentary that it's a costume made car/boat made in Iceland. Originally there was only one, but they made a few more for the film. Filmed in south Iceland, not in Alaska.

I checked the DVD documentary and you are right that this scene was filmed in Iceland. But the vehicles are very real and not movie-prop.
