My Bumper Book of Minis says this is a 1978 1000 S special edition for France only, probably Belgian build. Colour is very dark blue ("Bleu nuit"), but text does not mention vinyl roof. Similar 1978 Ebony edition for NL but black and had Ebony badge instead of S in side stickers. |

1977 Frankfurt IAA, so probably has a vinyl roof and some other details off as it's a pre-production model. |

It's possible my book is not quite on the button about the S being F-only - these 70s Minis editions are difficult to fully capture, and Seneffe did play about with these editions far more than UK. So also made for D is believable. |

Looks like there was a German variation as well, in definite black with vinyl roof, not painted like the French one. Side indicators support the idea of Seneffe build. |
