1966 gained a 1300 engine. The main (and top thumbs) have 1967 thinner trim and squared off engine lid, with the dent for the license plate visible from the inside. It also has the longer "VW 1X00" badge. Probably showing the new 1500 model to the viewers |

I'm confused - doesn't it say 6V on the engine as in 6 volts? I thought the 1967 received the 12 volt system? |

Yes. And no. There were two M-codes for 12 volts, 610 and 611 (the latter included vertical sealed beam headlights, I.E US market) for Typ 1, probably including Convertible (even if this is not listed) Just to keep your confusion alive, yes, Typ 2 and Typ 3 were converted to 12 volts from MY1967, by August 1, 1966 Our market had the 6 volt generator for MY1967 for Typ 1 -- Last edit: 2019-07-31 22:05:18 |

Duly noted. On a site note, I hesitated about 1966 or 1967 for the main one until I saw the 6V sticker. I also spent a while trying to figure out visual differences between the 1200cc and the 1300cc engine to no avail. The interior door handles, bonnet crease and the rear badge remain my go-to visual cues for the 66/67 models as the slim trim is still a tad difficult for me to discern. |

Well right now they are not here, but I supposed the former main image and the rear views were the same car. If you check the engine cover's lower edge it's flat, like the 1968+, just longer, about the length of the older, pointier ones. That would be a one year only lid. Engines are much the same to look at, details are for a trained eye to find Page from the MY1967 manual As a sidenote, 1968+ 1200's kept the 6 volt electrics for several years -- Last edit: 2019-08-01 10:45:42 |

Thank you. You may find the 1967 over here. |
