Bentley or Rolls ? |

Looks to me like an R-type Bentley with a very badly faked Rolls-Royce grille. |

Rolls Royce. Silver Cloud (1955 - 1959) by the look of it. But I see what you mean about the grill. I thought it was just the light and a poor image. -- Last edit: 2007-09-10 20:31:36 |

![]() I've fiddled with it a bit in Photoshop Elements and I still think it's an R-type. http://www.svvc.co.uk/svvc/cards/DSCF0002.JPG ... and I still think the grille's fake. It looks slightly too big to me. -- Last edit: 2007-09-10 21:03:50 |

This wouldn't be the first time for this kind of conversion. Here's another case where Bentley has been modified to look like a Rolls-Royce: /vehicle_59579-Bentley-S1-1955.html btw. nice photoshop Chris40 ![]() |

I would agree with R Type - that grille certainly looks odd. When I was in the US in 1978 I rode in one of these which had had a R-R grille put on it - although that one was the genuine item.. |

Actually, the real thing looks pretty odd, too... http://www.motorbase.com/profiles/vehicle/picture.ehtml?i=1165;p=71191947 ![]() |

Well yes, it does, I agree. At first glance I thought Silver Dawn, but the top of the grille doesn't slope down enough at the sides, which suggests it's been messed about to fit a Bentley. And I can't see the vertical slats at all; I think they were movable, but surely they wouldn't be closed in this climate. Hence, tarted-up R-type. |

I have no doubt that this is a Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn as she beards two elements: an RR grille and the arrangement of fog lamps which are very typical for the Silver Dawn. I see no reason to supect her to be an R-type even if this pic itself is not the very best. |

PXU 295 is the registration number of chassis SVJ127, a Rolls Royce Silver Dawn Standard Saloon, supplied to Mrs.E.M. Bratby in April 1955 (3rd from last Silver Dawn made), and now in the USA. So definitly not a Bentley. -- Last edit: 2008-01-20 22:37:49 |
