Based on Ford CV? |

I was wondering about an Opel Admiral. Hearses are tricky, aren't they? They muck about with everything behind the scuttle. |

No, it's not an Admiral. Body shape, front bumper and hubcaps are typical American style of the 80ies. -- Last edit: 2007-08-26 18:02:59 |

I think late 1970's/early 1980's Chevrolet Impala based on the small wheelcovers and minimal side trim. Same basic model as this Caprice : Link to "www.hearseclub.co.uk" |

With the taillight and hubcap design does looks like Ford LTD than Chevrolet Impala. |

Basic, low end(!)Ford LTD/LTD Crown Victoria Wagon.1979-87 model. In the US,it's more like the Medical Examiners(Coroner)"Pick Up" car than a Hearse! |

I suppose we can just label it as "1979 Ford LTD Wagon." |

Well, this is actually a full size hearse ('Karawan'). The car was originally converted for funeral use in Belgium, as far as I can spot it. You find many used funeral cars and ambulances from many European countries in Poland. -- Last edit: 2009-04-28 01:21:54 |

So on could add 'made in Belgium', no? |

How we handle it with hearses, ambulances, campmobiles and any other kind of conversions? What's the main point, the country of make of the car/chassis or of the body? Even at vans and trucks it's very often not the same. So for example nearly all light trucks in Britain, based on "continental" chassis like VW LT, Mercedes T1, T2, Sprinter, Fiat Ducato and many more, have British made bodies. The car-companies only deliver the naked chassis (btw.: in the VW-model-range these chassis count always as an own model-line). |

'Modified in Belgium' would be correct, as our Belgian friends just mounted the ceremonial lighting system and stuff onto a car coming from elsewhere. The same goes for all the things Ingo mentioned - or may we use the 'Made for Belgium' option in those cases, even though we're talking about an aftermarket conversion? The base vehicle is a station wagon, largely left stock, fitted with some additional gadgets and interior alterations. |

From where is that car? I wonder about the "Karawan" name. As these were not sold officially under that name I guess, and if it was made for Belgium at first, is this correct? |

'Karawan' is the Polish term for 'funeral coach', so this is a description rather than a model name. |
