Correct, the Hilux name was never used in the U.S. They've used various names over the years, but I think for the 1970s it was just "Toyota truck." |

According to Edmunds, Hi-Lux was dropped in US in 1976. 1975 would be a Hi-Lux. |

Come to think of it, the logo on the grille of the Toyota pick-up looks almost like the Pontiac logo, does anyone else think so? Gotta love The Goonies! |

when i was a kid i thought it was a pontiac, but pontiac never made trucks. i realized it was a toyota when i saw a one on the street |

They almost did! Someone at GM took a '73 El Camino and swapped the front end with that of a Pontiac Grand Am but GM never went forward with a Pontiac pickup. -- Last edit: 2021-09-18 02:23:48 |
