I think this truck was called Sachsenring (H3, H3A, H3S or H6) or Horch (for export), 1957+. IFA was used as make only for the new W50... |

Seems you are right DynaMike, I've found an article about W50 history in trucks/buses magazine, some facts from it: - H3 trucks were produced in VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerk in Zwickau (former Horch plant). - 1948-1950 Horch H3. - 1950 Horch H3A (3,5 t). - 1956 Make Horch has been replaced by Sachsenring. - 1957 Sachsenring H3S (4 t). - 1965 New IFA W50, which is produced in completly new plant in Ludwigsfelde - IFA Automobilwerke. - 1967 Last truck of serie H3. Horch/Sachsenring H6 was manufactured by WEB Waggonbau Betrieb Lowa. But I can't tell what is the make of truck from this pic. -- Last edit: 2007-08-22 17:49:35 |

I think all (older?) GDR commercial vehicle are without a company brand: H3, G5, P3, T 174, ZT 303 (http://www.ddr-landmaschinen.de/fahrzeugseiten/lkwseite.htm) But we need a brand and so we say IFA + Robur (trucks) or Fortschritt + Nobas (crane, farming vehicle) Sachsenring, and i think Horch/GDR too, was also IFA. IFA 'Sachsenring' H3 , IFA H3 (H3 meens Horch 3 tons) (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFA_H3) -- Last edit: 2008-02-03 00:51:19 |

Yes and no - they were badged in a different way, you can see here: http://www.nutzfahrzeugmuseum.de/images/H3_H3A_g.jpg Just Horch, IFA-Horch, and just IFA (not visible on the pic W50/L60). Anyway can stay that all of them were IFAs. -- Last edit: 2008-02-03 15:20:15 |
