This is a full custom based 1949 Lincoln build on an extended Cosmopolitan chassis and featuring a vinyl top and retractible running boards.It looks identical to one of the first new Lincolns purchased by the White House Truman administration in 1949 to replace older limousines of the fleet and may in fact be the same car.Truman did order further extended Lincoln fleet cars in 1950 amongst them a 4-door convertible and the famous " Bubble Top" with the 1950 grille and side trim, now in the Henry Ford museum.So this is really an interesting document. |
