From what I can see, there were no R&D centres in Thailand when this car generation was initially released - 2013 model year? - (just a proving ground opened in 2015, according to some reports), so I believe it was still developed in Japan. I consider that the country/countries where the car was designed, engineered, tested should be the country/countries of origin, not the place where it was first manufactured and sold. I think that it should be listed as model origin Japan, built in Thailand, similarly to how the Renault Symbol has model origin France and built in Turkey, or several Fiat models (Albea, Linea) that were never sold in Italy.
