Could this be a Burlingham bodied Leyland Tiger Cub? |

The coachwork is certainly a Burlingham Seagull, the chassis could be a Leyland, either Tiger Cub or Royal Tiger. A view of the number plate, so conveniently missing, might help. I think that the chassis is a Bedford SBG, however; the frontal treatment suggests a vertical engine rather than underfloor, and the little plate under the grille indicates Bedford. https://www.flickr.com/photos/66164385@N06/6226880340 https://www.flickr.com/photos/129093914@N02/38115663064 /v354112.html -- Last edit: 2018-10-03 13:15:47 |

Burlingham were located in Blackpool, Bedford chassis came from Luton. Purely speculation, but with the low qties involved, I can’t see any advantage to be gained. You may know about Bedford’s Irish connections through Vauxhall, but other than maybe a degree of finishing off by local labour, I can’t see much advantage to be gained by Irish production to Burlingham’s. No mention here, in fact a note that Burlingham’s did not get much involved with export business. http://www.lthlibrary.org.uk/library/PDF-011-1.pdf Also, there is the ferry from Fleetwood, which would have been easily available from Blackpool. -- Last edit: 2021-02-04 18:58:46 |
