very interesting, as the Pictures show the Maserati 3500 GT Spyder not made by Vignale but the prototype from Touring. When Maserati decided to produce a spider version of his 3500 GT Coupé made by Touring they asked Touring and also Carozzeria Vignale to build a prototype. Vignale became the order for the serial production, at least 242 examples were made. Only 2 prototypes of the Touring Spyder were made. Perhaps the only existing film with this rare and special car. -- Last edit: 2013-10-21 18:39:01 |

The car behind is a Dauphine Renault, this car has been the first attempt made by Renault to come over the US market in the early 60th. obviously, there was no market for such an economic and powerless car. 40 CV rear engine |

Apparently chassis 101*124 and 101*126. 126 is listed as the car in this film from coachbuild.com, where it is now apparently silver. Unclear what colour 124 was, but if this site is correct, it was also a slightly dark red, but looks like a white interior instead of black. Which kind of mucks things up in deciding which one this is. But as the document trail on coachbuild.com suggests 126 was supplied to France in 58, I guess this is it. |
