PPV would go in brackets just like with the other ones.

Well, actually about these brackets, I am not sure that PPV, 9C1, F41 and so on should be mentioned as such codes, as they are more equipments than vehicle references.
For example, because of the Ford Expedition(Explorer?) [U1] code I had to put SSV as extra info, so I should maybe do the same for other similar codes?

I don't know. When I joined the site, the 9C1 was already being placed in brackets, so I figured that PPV, SSP, etc. should get the same treatment as they are also codes that would identify a police-package vehicle. If you want to change things up, go right ahead.

So how do you want to do this then antp? I think that maybe we should come up with some sort of game plan for these 9C1's, 9C3's, SSP's, SSV's, PPV's, etc. The list is just going to keep on growing, so if you want, we should do something about it before the list gets longer. It's partly because of this dilemma that I've decided not to include P71 as part of the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor name (P71 would basically be the Ford equivilant to 9C1).

9C1 & co. is much different from T1/U1, I do not think that both should be put together. The place of 9C1 & co. is probably not in that field anyway, it was a mistake done at the beginning. It is closer to a trim level / version, no? In that cases it should be mentionned like is mentionned XLT etc. The code like T1/U1 is usually an "internal" code that can be used to distinguish various models sharing the same "commercial name" (like different generations of cars) or to "regroup" cars sold under multiple names (e.g. if you search for code "ADO16" you get Morris 1100/1300, Austin 1100/1300, and many others).

About length of the list, do not worry, I can easily change all in one time (move 9c1 from chassis-code to extra-info, for example)
In the same way, if needed, I can add U1 or T1 to all Expedition between year X and Y, it is easier than having to post a comment on each: just ask me and give the criteria for the change ;)

I think you might want to check this out:
9C1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9C1
B4C: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B4C
SSP Mustang: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang_SSP#Distinct_models

Here's what it says for the SSV Expedition and Explorer, which I copied and pasted from wikipedia:
"To compete with large police SUVs, Ford has made a SPECIAL TRIM LINE for the Expedition thats only available to police and fire departments around the country. Ford calls it the Expedition Special Service Vehicle. The Expedition Special Service Vehicle offers a stronger engine than the standard Expedition and emergency options which include light bars and sirens."

Now, I understand that Wikipedia is not the most reliable source, but all of this information sounds correct. I don't know if you'll want to read it and make a decision from there, but I'm just trying to help.

Well, that just confirms what I thought. Even if some cases it is more than just trim, it is still all option stuff and not a whole different vehicle. So it should go as extra info, which is displayed without brackets. I'll do the change to the existing ones then.

Say if I wanted to search the site for these cars, what would I have to type in the seach box to come up with the PPVs, SSPs, 9C1's, etc.?

Check the "extra info" option below the text box, and select "contains" instead of "starts with".
It is maybe less fast for doing the search compared to having to type the text in the box and nothing else, though. But you can put in bookmarks the search link, one for each code.

Well, here you go, some quick info on the coding system for the Ford Expedition’s underbelly.

Thanks, I'll add the code to the Expeditions when I have few minutes.
