You can tell by grille - 1800's have this type of grille with horizontal body-coloured panel in centre whereas 1300's have a vertical body-coloured central 'V' shape and a silver grille each side. Van and pick up versions all had the 1300 type grille despite only having a 1100 engine available. On mk2's they all had the same grille (similar to mk1 1800 but without coloured bar - just silver grill mesh)so you couldn't tell engine size. There was a rare diesel engined version for a short while but I can't recall which grille it used.
