Archive footage from JFK's parade car, probably seen in many movies & series.

At the end there is a scene made for the series, I do not know if they used a car from the same year or just a similar one:

JFK's car was a '61 Continental.

So they say but the '61 Continental had a different grille (the bumper covered the lower half of it). Did the Presidential Limo get a facelift somewhere along the line?

The JFK-Lincoln "X-100" was manufactured by Hess & Eisenhardt.

It has a different grille, indeed, and it´s a 1962 grille. X-100 was put into service in June 1961, regularly fitted with a 1961 grille. The 1962 "facelift" had been done in September 1962 (start of the new model year), maybe for keeping the car up to date. http://c.barat.free.fr/lincoln/limousine/62jfk-4.jpg

The original car that President Kennedy was riding in was cleaned up just after the assassination, and sent to Detroit and gutted and rebuilt as a armored presidential limousine. It was known thereafter as the "Quickfix" limo. The color was changed from dark blue to black. The glass around where the president sat weighed 1600 pounds. When finished, the car weighed a whopping 9,500 pounds. This car was used by Presidents Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter. The car was retired after 16 years of service and put on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan where it still resides today.
