The type of door mirror and the one-piece windscreen identify a 1968+ T2.

I guess this is Canada... What name did they use ther? Double cabin?

I don't know, the export-names aren't important either. My intention is, that the pick-up is a different model than the Doka, and this is a fact for all VW Transporters from the T1 to the T3, probably still for the T4 and T5.
As I wrote in annother posting, VW had different type-numbers for them.

Some day we should clean the various Typ 2... I started a thread long time ago: http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-713-Precision_for_some_VW__Typ_.html
Maybe it would be time to clean that, if you have enough info to help for that? (discussion to be continued on the forum then)

The time is a bit a problem for me, but finally it's quite easy, just sort the Typ 2 in the main classes (T1, T2a, T2b, T3, T4 and T5) into sub-classes for the bodies (Bus, Transporter, Pritsche(pick-up) and Doppelkabine[DoKa]) and perhaps extra sub-classes for campers, funeral-cars, etc. But these special versions are mainly based on one of the four main versions. This counts for Typ 2 with the engines in the back, so T1 to the T3.
T4 and T5 are available as naked chassis, just with the front nose, with front doors or not, so the body manufacture can mount everything on the chassis, he wants to.

Then it should be mainly correct - but not totally. In fact it's not possible to sort them perfectly. Normally the "Transporter" has no back side windows and no passenger seats, the "Bus" has them - but there are also VW Typ 2 with windows around and with seats up to 8 passengers, but still names "Transporter"
Due to the many various versions of the VW Typ 2, it's too difficult.

Naturally: versions, like the South African made T3 or the Brazilian made T2 (the T1, too), should have their own classes/chapters, because they are too different to the original ones. My suggestion is meant to avoid different classes, just due the export-names, like we have it now.

In the US this version was sold as Double Cab Pick-up.

Yes, but in fact it's classified orgin by Volkswagen as "Doppelkabine" ("DoKa") and not as a "Pritsche" (pick-up).

This is the problem, we are talking about, that some cars in this forum are sorted and classified just by their export-names and not by the real production-codes and classifications.

We had this discussion several times before, for example at some Lada/Shiguli/VAZ - which in fact are all identical except the name.

But still, the policy on this site is to find the name of the country the car was sold... Even if it's the same model, when sold under a different name we take those different names, don't we?

Yes, we do - and in my opinions it's a fault. So identical cars are listed in different threads, just because their export-name is different. We should sort for models, not just for names.
