The first Fiat "1100 tassi" (with pillars between the front- and back-door with the door hinges on this pillar) has been bulid in 1938 - a Fiat 508c, known as Balilla 1100 withe the "flat" round grille. This version was discribed as Fiat 508 L Tassi. - The normal 1100 sedan and the stretched 7 seater has been both pillarless - frontdoor-hinges in front of the door - This picture (and other on this site) shows the taxi with the "mussone"-grille, this taxi-version was produced from 1939 until 1954 (!). The first name was Fiat 1100 AL Tassi, 1948 came some technical modifications (no change in body-style) and the name changed to 1100 BL Tassi. In 1949 Fiat introduced the Fiat 1100 E with gear control lever at the steering wheel and boot lid / bonnet-lid. There were two chassis-versions : normal (1100 E sedan 1949-1953) and stretched (1100 EL, only 1949-1950). Both only pillarless. The Taxi with pillar and gear-lever in the middle persists until end of 1953, perhaps even beginning 1954. Longer then the sedan. 1100 BL and BL Tassi reached a number of 8084 units. (The pick up and van 1100 L (1938), ALR (1946), BLR (1948) and ELR (1949-53) also based on the stretched "L" - chassis.) - ok ? regards -- Last edit: 2007-08-25 19:28:58 |
