Champion 400 Rolldach-Coupé with a rear mounted 14 bhp 400 cc ILO-engine, introduced in Frebruary 1951 by the 'Champion Automobilbau GmbH' and produced near Paderborn, since April 1953 by 'Rheinische Automobilfabrik, Hennhöfer & Co' in Ludwigshafen. Interesting feature were the side semi-circular windows that could be turned around the centre to be opened. The headlights are not original; probably they had been added to meet French standards (the original ones were placed very low). |

Nice! Now we have all the Champions listed! ![]() The term 'Rolldach-Coupé' is not official, as far as I know. 'Rolldach' just means roll-back (canvas) roof, like the Citroën 2CV has. |

la CHAMPION 400 fut produite à Paderborn à 2042 exemplaires du printemps 1951 jusqu'en automne 1952, puis la firme fut vendue et la production transférée à Ludwigshafen, la firme fut de nouveau vendue et la CHAMPION devint MAICO 400 puis MAICO 500 de 1955 à octobre 1957 avec environ 8000 voitures produites. |
