I know I'll get stoned for this, but to me, the Mk X has always been one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful car Jaguar has ever built. |

If you want to get stoned in the privacy of your own home, that's your choice. But beware of the long-term effects. ![]() Mk.X was too big and obese for me, but when Jag decided to slim it down and get rid of the excess flab to create the Jag 420/first Daimler Sovereign, it transformed an ugly duckling into a swan. Especially in dark blue with wires. And Radford made a gorgeous convertible - enjoy this video and a stunning model by Matrix. |

Nope, it's the Mk X/420G for me as well, when the lottery comes in I'll have one restored & lightly tweaked by Vicarage, gunmetal with oxblood interior thanks. -- Last edit: 2017-10-02 23:15:24 |

Having driven many miles in a late 420G with the Adwest variable rate power steering and what must be amongst the thickest doors found on a British car, all I can say is that the Mk 2 XJ6 was a big improvement. Due to the waiting list for the XJ, the boss never had a Mk 1, so no knowledge. |

To be fair, the XJ was a big improvement on just about anything in the late 60's, we're spoiled nowadays that there's no such thing as a truly bad car, plenty of crap ones but nothing truly bad? |

You're probably right. Standards have increased massively. Still, most could nevertheless be a lot more reliable and durable if the bean-counters who nowadays run the show at the car-companies would reduce their excessive cost cuts a bit. On the other hand, you could as well argue that there are not that many cars with a real distinctive and individual"character" in production nowadays although the variety of models is bigger than ever before. -- Last edit: 2017-10-15 19:30:07 |
