I thought it should be a MBenz O305, but the rear doesn't match... could it be the MAN-Büssing version of the same VÖV bus?

It is a VÖV Standard Bus. Being in Berlin it can only be a MAN/Büssing, since no Mercedes-Benz were delivered there.

I was wondering after how much time a new "MAN Büssing" would appear... cf Link to "forum.imcdb.org"

As Junkman said, it is a VÖV standard city bus, with a body style used by many companies:
* Büssing
* Gräf & Stift together with Steyr (Gräf & Stift: chassis; Steyr: body)
* Ikarus
* Magirus-Deutz
* MAN
* Mercedes-Benz

This body style is known as SL1 and was used first by Büssing in 1968.
The early versions had round rear lights, like this Büssing:

Otherwise the Büssing, MAN-Büssing and MAN are similar:

The MAN-Büssing brand name was used since the takeover of Büssing by MAN in 1971 until 1978 (busses only) to keep the brand loyal Büssing customers.
MAN name was used from ca. 1973 until 1983, when the SL2 series was introduced.

So far I cannot say when the square rear lights were introduced, probably some time in the mid to late 1970s. Therefore we can rule out Büssing, but it is impossible to say if it is an MAN-Büssing or an MAN.

Isn't it better to list it as MAN then? (to not have it listed as a separate new make...)

Would be okay by me. I only put the dash into the name. ;)

We could try and find when the Berlin bus company bought such buses. This way we might get another clue.

What would be the problem to have a seperate new make, as it is actually a fact that during a period this bus/lorries were under the make MAN-Büssing, and neither as Büssing nor MAN. It's a historical point.

I just checked some Berlin bus pages:

They ran buses from all makes:

Büssing:

MAN-Büssing:

MAN:

and even Mercedes-Benz:

I do not have a problem with that (though that merging names generates lots of new ones, well, if these existed we cannot do anything against that), it was rather for the "problem" that occured with another of these vehicles, cf the link that I posted :D
