Looks like 1998-1999 C280 "Sport" since the plastic molding on the bumper is body-coloured/painted. On non-sport models, the trim was darker (on lighter coloured cars). Only the C280 and C230 Kompressor were ever offered with the Sport package, but this clearly isn't a Kompressor. An enlargement:
