Looks a bit more like RS Turbo for bodykit/spoiler than XR3i, but neither XR3 or RS came with 5 doors; RS had bonnet vents, and only very late XR3 had these pepperpot wheels in UK, although more common in Europe. May 90 Eclipse run-out Mk4 edition based on 1.3L was 5 door and had rear spoiler and side mouldings and some at least had sunroof - https://www.flickr.com/photos/55777341@N00/17978295841 . So either an imaginary 5 door RS Turbo with odd wheels or an approximate 1990 Eclipse. What does "You Can't Sandal The Truth" mean?? |

More likely the cartoonist (artist?) visited an Essex council estate some time in the late 90's, that's where he got his inspiration, it should have an Oakley sticker across the back window and 2 holes punched in the headlining just above the back seat |

@Baube: Your picture shows an Mk. III Escort, not an Mk. IV. I have the same toy, and it seems the Mk. IV is only available as a collector's model. |

Majorette do another sporty Escort 3 door (as Baube's link) which they seem to call Mk.IV but we'd call Mk.V. But you're right - the MkIV is a neglected species. There is a fairly new XR3i 1:43 casting used by Whitebox (grey) and Triple-9 (black) which probably comes from Premium X but theirs hasn't come out yet. Apart from that NEO have done an XR3i convertible and a 5-foor Turnier, both in resin and expensive. And that seems to be it .... |
