I met Paul Lemat AKA "John Milner". He was a real cool guy. |

Remember the line after he had been given a speeding ticket? He said to the girl with him in the car "File it there under CS" She - "Whats that? He - "Chicken shit!" as she stuffs it in the glove compartment with all of the other ones. |

The engine from Milner's Deuce appears briefly in the movie 'The California Kid' when the cop asks the Kid to open the hood, since it was set in 1958 and the Kid's Pete & jake built '34 Ford had a more modern 70's engine, they lined the 32 Ford's small block Chevy, Rochester 2G carbs and Man-a-Fre intake manifold with black cardboard and shot it as an insert. The Deuce used in American Graffiti was originally a fully fendered red hot rod with red and white tuck'n'roll upholstery that was dyed black for the movie. |

does anyone know the spec of the engine in this? i'm curious as to who had the quicker car, Milner or Falfa? |

In the world of the movie, it's impossible to tell, since the specifications of each car is never explained. In real life, the '55 Chevy was much faster: It was running a tunnel-rammed 454 (original 1970 LS6 engine) with a Muncie 4 speed and various fiberglass body panels...this car was allegedly capable of running 11 second quarter miles. The '32 Ford used in the film had a 1966 Corvette 327 small block, but I don't know any other specs on it. Naturally, their fictional counterparts could not have used these engines, seeing as how the movie was set in '62, although the Milner Deuce could have had an earlier year 327. The Falfa '55 could have concievably been a 409, but not much else (assuming a big block Chevy was supposed to be in it). -- Last edit: 2009-06-12 23:54:00 (G-MANN) |

John Milner's (Paul LeMat) car, the fastest car in the valley. The licence plate number, THX138 is a reference to George Lucas's previous film THX 1138. -- Last edit: 2012-02-07 19:58:50 |

Since this is such an awesome car, how about we give it 5 stars? |
◊ 2009-06-13 08:30 |
I'd second both the black '55 and the yellow '32 from this film getting five stars, since they're such iconic, famous screen vehicles. I guarantee, you say "American Graffiti" to most screen buffs, the drag race between these two is what they think of. |

As to which was the quicker car John admitted to Toad that Falfa was pulling away from him before he lost control. |
◊ 2009-06-15 00:27 |
Should "Deuce Coupe" should in the model name field rather than extra info? |
◊ 2009-06-15 00:39 |
I don't think Falfa's car should get 5 stars because he's only a supporting character. But this should, and maybe the Steve's white Impala that Toad drives around should as well? |

Technially even though it is still wrong The #1 car had a 427 Big Block. The #2 had a 454 and possibly so did the #3. The #3 was pulled from a junk yard and pieced together for the wreck. It had a state farm sticker on the rear bumper where as Falfas did not and it also had the chunk of wood to make it a "post" car. The 32 was a hipo 327 as it had camel back heads. A man-a-fre 4 carb intake. Sprint headers that are no longer built and a regular T10 4 speed not the Super T10 4 speed as stated in most articles on the car. The rear window was screwed to the inside. The grille was sectoned 4" and the top 3.5". -- Last edit: 2009-11-20 06:20:09 |

"Ah shit! Holsteen!" "and Milner, the front end of this "thing" your driving looks a little low" Five stars, all the way. -- Last edit: 2012-05-19 02:39:36 |

Why is this five stars, not the 1958 Chevy Bel-Air? -- Last edit: 2021-08-07 09:16:52 |

I personally never liked this car or the 1955 Chevy or the 1951 Mercury. I like the Edsel and the 1958 Chevy Bel Air more, I even like the Citroën more then this or the 1955 Chevy or the 1951 Mercury. -- Last edit: 2021-08-07 09:29:36 |

Do people in this thread don't know how a star rating system works? It's not about how awesome the car is. |

Nice inside reference on that license plate. |
