I went and heavily researched this by going on the MB forums for the ML. Production began in Alabama. However, the US could not keep up with the worldwide demand and in 1999 Graz was issued a contract of 75,000 units to help supply EU and surrounding nations. As far as I know the US/Graz built all the different ML configurations (however, there might be exceptions to this that would need more research (like if a certain version was exclusive to Graz/USA)). This above example is a 2002-2005 model by the mirrors.
