AA5 was only used for four months (November 1989 to February 1990), before the new Kei-car ruleset allowed Mazda to put a 660 cc engine and slightly thicker bumpers, resulting in the AA6 version. There's a much bigger probability to see one of those later Carols - made until mid-1995 - than one of the earliest 550 models. |

Based on what evidence ? As I said above, the AA5 was only made for four months before being replaced by the AA6 (same car, slightly bigger engine and bumpers), which kept on going for five years. As I can't tell the difference between the two types in this pic, and as Google Images and the rest of the internet don't seem to know either, I think it's a safer bet to use the AA6 code. |
