According to Link to "mercedes-benz-blog-trivia.blogspot.se" it was introduced as L 3250 (3.25 ton pay load) in May 1949, but because Borgward and Magirus already offered 3.5 tonners, Mercedes renamed it L 3500 in January 1950. And as such is was well known for a number of years. However, in 1953 Mercedes introduced a heavier version called L 4500 with 4.5 ton pay load. And from 1956 the design codes were used and the L 3500 was renamed L 311 while the L 4500 was renamed L 312 until January 1961 when it was discontinued in Germany, but was continued being built in India by TATA and also in other contries. Conclusion: I believe this is (likely) a L 3500 (as default). |
