It has the wiper position of a 1967 911, which was changed for 1968. Features otherwise are close to 1993 Carrera RS 3.8 [964], although arches are dodgy (particularly rear), the rear aerofoil is more extreme (1995 Carrera RS 3.6 Clubsport [993]) and the all white front lights are wrong for a 964. I can't really judge the wheelbase to confirm if early swb because the arches change the proportions, but the wipers may be solid evidence for a 1967 which has been hugely rebuilt. |

Listed as 1.61m long and 4.19m wide  3,290 l, 221 kW engine so not original @dsl, was that info relevant? |

My Bumper Book Of Porsches lists a 1967 911 as 4163mm long and 1610mm wide. A plain vanilla 1990 Carrera [964] was 4250mm long and 1652mm wide and had 3,600cc. "3,290 l, 221 kW engine" matches a mid-80s Turbo 3.3 [930]. So the stench of a Frankenstein-ish mongrel is beginning to become overpowering. The degree of updated detail to things like mirrors and side indicators suggests a comprehensive rebuild from a bare frame, and the amount of bodging to shrink newer pattern bodyparts onto an older frame would have been immensely expensive compared to starting from something newer. A bit like the Lew Grade quote after the Raise The Titanic film went way over budget that it would have been cheaper to drain the Atlantic. It still makes me giggle when trying to sort out all these hugely pimped 911s how often the wipers give away the truth. |
