US Self Propelled Howitzer M44..no variants were made during production run, save for the pre production experimental vehicle which differed only in having an armoured roof. Main armament is a T186E1 155mm howitzer..the overall design is similar to WW2 with rear fold down platform and recoil spade but with the main defference being that the sides of the vehicle fold down to provide a flat work area around the gun. Chassis was new, but with running gear fom the M41 Sheridan Light Tank series, adapted to fit...the guy standing at right, under the .50cal Mg is actually in the driving position!the fold down windscreen is in front of him with the large box type structure with the jerrycan holder on is the housing for the air filter -- Last edit: 2007-04-13 23:35:59 |
