As far as I understand, this is a 1950-51 Vauxhall. That is because te rear lights are close to the edges of the rear stem, rather than close to the licence plate.
The earlier lights are D-shaped while the later are rectangular.

But the smaller headlights without separate sidelights usually identify it as 1948-49...

Replaced front wings? I think I rather believe in that compare with a replaced rear stem.

No obvious explanation for newer rear than front - nothing found to suggest Luton ever made a hybrid. So starting from scratch:
- 2 cars used
- front or back has been replaced. I'd argue that it's unlikely a replaced front would choose to use older format, but who knows the circs either way??
- an export spec 1949 to somewhere which required a different rear format, which was then adopted for everywhere 1950+ my - where filmed?? It's RHD country
- long shot, again depending where filmed - did Aus production make hybrids early on??

If someone invented a four-sided coin, we could toss for it.

The series was made by MGM at their studio in Hollywood. The studios all had a few British cars for films set in Englandshire, so my guess would be that one day their 1950-51 Velox got pranged at the front and was repaired with parts salvaged from an older car. Or maybe they sacrificed another Vauxhall because they couldn't get spare parts or they decided they didn't need to keep two.
