It's a P6 coupe which can be 12M or 15M.

The 12M had almond shaped taillights. So this must be a 15M.

These were never sold in the US, so very rare to find.

Night Cub is correct, plus the coupe version (And this is one of the 'nicer' models, too?) wasn't so common in Germany,either....you'd see one of them for about every twenty 2dr Sedans?? (And they didn't 'age' well,I recall these being known for transmission issues, plus Fords/Opels of this era were quite rustprone??)

Doesn't explain this one, but we have 4 1958-65 assorted Taunuses in US. Also as passing comment, the 1963+ Taunus 12M [P4] was originally a joint design project between Ford US and Ford D for a compact to be sold in US in high numbers as well as Europe. But Detroit pulled out, leaving Koln to finish it.

Early Taunus was sold in the US, but not past the early 60s ( I'll have to look it up). By the late 1960s, just the Cortina was sold.

That link has the same info that I looked up, they were sold from 1958-60, then pulled.

I would remove the "Made for USA" tag on the 1965 model (like I did for this one), since they were not officially sold here. My guess would be they were brought over from returning servicemen, who were stationed in Europe.

The Made For USA tag is useful as it enables them to be pulled out as a group for discussion (like wot I did above). Without it the 1965 one would disappear into the general swamp. Which means it might also be useful to re-apply it here, despite the lack of official sales.

Found a P6 that used to be for sale - says it was imported in 2002.

BTW: look at this P3 with the US-spec headlights I'm glad they didn't do that to the P5.

I've seen a couple of P3's stateside,I think they sold those here very briefly about 1960-61? 'Those' had quads fitted,though....looked much better?? There is also at least ONE,Taunus P5,17m 2 dr sedan, with the 'Deluxe' trim,in the Dallas,Tx area!!! A Dark Blue one. And no way to take pictures!!! I saw it outside of a bodyshop in '04! Stopped and looked at it,owner of the place came out,I asked him if he knew what it was? Said he thought maybe an English car,I told him it was German. Said someone brought it over to get estimates on fixing the rust (Same places I recall them rusting, down low/rockers,etc) and that he'd "Never heard of such a car??" Told him it was once a very common car in Germany, and I knew of them because I'd lived there growing up,because we were posted there?? That, and I'd also had the 'revised' model of the successor of this one? (a '69 17m 2dr."P7b") Have not seen this car since.
