New windows indicate a 1957+ model. I don't know when import to the UK started, the three-wheeler wasn't introduced in Austria before 1959. Most Isettas had four wheels. |

http://www.whirlingpool.com/isetta/history/history.htm I thought the reason for the three-wheeler's popularity in the UK had to do with tax. |

I guess road tax was a big part of it but low purchase price and running costs would be just as important before the days of the BMC Mini. Many would also be moving up from a motorcycle and sidecar without having to pass another driving test. It would be interesting to compare costs with the Austin A30/35 and similar cars..... |

I suspect many of the people going from motorbikes and sidecars to three-wheelers in the 1940's and 1950's had never taken a test at all. |
