Strange - someone's made our little batch of French Austin 850s into Austin Mini 850s. Any particular reason? I'm not too fussed, just curious. |

It's uncorrect. Mini appears for model 1963, not before... All early ADO15 Austins are named Seven from 1960 till 1962 YM. The Morris are named Mini Minor. |

So when was the Austin 850 badging used - eg /vehicle_428859-Austin-Mini-850-ADO15-1963.html , /vehicle_241555-Austin-Mini-850-ADO15-1966.html , /vehicle_92068-Austin-Mini-850-ADO15-1963.html ?? And what was the official name for these cars (which were as far as I know only badged 850 for France)?? My guess is that it's more likely that Austin Seven name would have been meaningless in France, so early cars used 850; later on Mini had become famous car and word so more natural to start calling them Mini in France as well. But I have no information to confirm this. |
