:D Wow I'm suprised to see an old Brit in the States, and on... Knight Rider??? :) Those cars were tiny, tinny little things but they made sweet hot rods, especially the Ford "Pop" Popular: http://www.andyruddsphotographics.com/USERIMAGES/NL5C5704-01.jpg
Still seems odd to see an Anglia in the States, maybe it was brought over by a Serviceman sometime after the war? ...

They were sold here in fairly small numbers in the 1940s and 1950s. Most of them have been turned into hot rods...they were particularly popular among drag-racers, due to their light weight and the fact that a Chevrolet small-block V8 fits pretty easily.

I'm not even kidding, I've seen a '49 Ford Anglia hot rod nearly identical to this one! At first I thought it was the same exact car, but this one is a two-door sedan while the one I saw is a van and the roof, hood, and grille area are black while this one just has black on the fenders.

“Fairly small numbers”

Two door Anglia type 1939 to 1948, North American spec. Qty 5251.
Four door Prefect type 1938 to 1949, North American spec.Qty 4988.

I cannot find separate figures for the production of NA spec later models, from 1948/9 to 1959 in the case of two door, and 1953 for four door. The total production of all two door saloons was 155,350, and all four door saloons was 192,229.

It seems likely that approaching 15,000 of these types were exported to North America, but that is a guess.

Almost all imports would've been postwar, and after sterling was devalued in 1949 the price was reduced from close to that of a V8 American Ford (around $1500) to as low as $999 sales would've picked up a bit.
