Driven by the private eye (Jon Polito) who follows the Dude around. In this scene a blue/purple Beetle can be seen among the traffic outside, could this be him? -- Last edit: 2009-10-01 01:48:40 |

Last thumbnail has elephant foot taillight, but I don't think it is related to this vehicle... Ingo, when did this color introduced? |

@G-MANN: Okay, I am at home, I found the taillight from third picture does correspond to 1971/72 model year. As I mentioned above about the last picture doesn't match due to different taillight. |

About the last thumbnail? Yes, also for me it looks, like the Beetle there is a different one, a 1973+ version with the "elephant foot"-tail lights. |

P.S. You were talking about the third thumbnail, too: no, I don't think, that this one shows a different car. I think, you can see there the US-version (I don't know, if original or aftersales market) of the smaller tail lights. It has a chromated house and side marker-lamps on the outside. These US lamp-houses are still in production (I think, in poor quality from Brazil or Taiwan), because there are European VW-freaks, who wants to have them for "pimping" theiy Typ 1. The original ones of the 70ies weren't sold outside America. |

Yes, I realise now the Beetle in the last thumbnail is not the same one, I just thought it was a funny coincidence since this private eye in a blue/purple Beetle is supposed to be following the Dude around. -- Last edit: 2009-10-02 18:26:21 |
